Today, we wrote our diary entries in the imagination studio about our trip to the Safari Park. We were surrounded by pictures of our day on the walls around us, we had the smell of the forest to stimulate our senses. We also had prompts on the floor to remind us of the features we needed to use as well as calming sounds and videos to help us work. We had lots of fun in the studio and our writing is fantastic!
We’ve had a fantastic day at the Safari Park.
We started off with our tour around the park looking at all of the different animals, some more friendlier than others. Children had LOTS of questions about how they survive in the park, which ones were herbivores etc. We even saw the new baby rhino which the children were very excited about (as were the adults).
Once we finished lunch, we headed to the penguin area, walked through the smelly bat cave and watched a show with two friendly sea lions.
We finished our day on the rides which was fantastic! We hope children have enjoyed the day as much as the adults did!
Year 2 are preparing for summer when hopefully it will be warmer than it is this week! We have been getting the raised beds ready by weeding and adding new compost. We have sown some seeds so watch this space for our produce…….
On Wednesday Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic day at Chester Zoo. The weather was very kind to us as well.
The children enjoyed seeing the animals in their environments and were able to link their learning of habitats and adaptations to a real life scene.
Only some of the class were filmed by the Zoo. I believe they plan to use some of this footage on their website. Please contact the school if you require any further information about this.
Finally a big thank you to all the parents for bringing their children earlier to school. We were able to get to Chester Zoo at opening time and spend more valuable time exploring the Zoo!
This afternoon we were introduced to the digestion system. We looked at how our body is equipped to process the food that we eat. Once we read about each part of the digestion system, we used a pair of tights and a plastic bag to represent parts of our bodies. The end result was DISGUSTING!!!
