Parent Forum

Parent Forum Tuesday 2nd March

Thank you to those parents who were able to attend on the evening of 2 March; a short but positive meeting was held. The points brought up were

  • to aid the issue of communication, it was suggested that there was a designated Communication Day every so often so that people knew to check for information and news. It was agreed that this could be very useful so a date and frequency are to be looked at
  • a parent mentioned that it was felt that the school needed to have more connection with the environment possibly through the medium of art. There was the suggestion that an  eco-group could be set up. It was agreed to invite the parent into school to explore the possibilities
  • parents liked the newsletters that had been published on the website but it was felt that one or two things needed ‘tweaking’. It was decided that a questionnaire or some way of gaining parent views would be beneficial. It was also suggested that we ensure that the information shared in them, such as dates, was the same in all the newsletters with separate boxes for Year specific dates and School-wide dates

An update on the previous parents forum

  • the key points from the School Improvement Plan pertaining to outcomes for children in school have now been placed in the parent section of the website
  • staff have met with a parent who designs websites to look at further improvements to the school website
  • staff are currently receiving maths training related to school improvement and parent workshops on assessment and methods will be conducted once the training and implementation has been carried out
  • Mrs Gillett, the new headteacher, has been into school several times and is planning staff training and will arrange to meet parents early in the new term
