Year one have been studying castles and we have worked as a team of four to make a castle with a keep. What do you think about them? we think they’re pretty good and we have had a good time making them.
We have been finding out about the foods we eat and where they come from.
29th May Year One trip to Botanical Gardens . We had a fabulous time. We found out about how bees help plants to make seeds, we saw some amazing plants. Lots of them had leaves that were bigger than we were. There were enormous fish and some parrots that shouted Hello when we talked to them. We saw massive prickly cacti and even saw lemons and bananas growing in the glass houses. We even had time to play on the playground!
In year one, we had a special assembly about the eclipse and we talked about how to stay safe.
when we went back to our classrooms, we observed the eclipse by piercing a piece of paper and allowing the sun to shine on a piece of paper.
Some children in Y1 have been playing games to help them learn high frequency words with Mrs. Kirk. She says they’re enjoying playing the games!
Children in Y1 have been looking at toys from the past. We have made thaumotropes and spinning tops.We have played leap frog, hopscotch and tiddly winks. We will be making more toys in the next few weeks!
Children’s in Mr. Ray’s literacy group have been using the tablets to make Little Red Riding Hood comics! We had to use the camera to take photos of different parts of the story – this was hard, lots of our pictures were very blurred! We then wrote captions and begun to add some speech bubbles.
