We would like to say a HUGE thank you to parents for your support and generosity this week in helping us raise money for our trip to the theatre. We raised £491 as a phase which is absolutely fantastic!
We all had fun throughout the week enjoying breakfast before school each day and we thoroughly enjoyed our day dressed as pirates! Mrs. Robathan even made some teachers walk the plank!
Firstly a huge thanks to Mrs Ives who organised the day and to all the adults that were able to help.
Thanks to all the parents that were able to attend one of the the sports day sessions and we hope you enjoyed it as much as the staff and children did. A special thanks to the parents that took part in our parent races throughout the day, we appreciate your effort and the children loved seeing you all get involved!
We would love to hear your comments and suggestions about how the day ran, please leave a ‘reply/comment’ to this post. Photos to follow in the next few days!
Thank you for your support,

Year three Egyptian Day
Wow. What a lovely day we all had!
Thank you all so much for your continued support and allowing your children to participate in such a fantastic day.
The children had previously created a scarab beetle amulet to decorate, to link with our Art topic – Sculptures. They painted the scarabs and different pieces of pasta and threaded them onto string. The children had lots of fun creating their piece of their Egyptian jewellery. Let’s have a look at some of our designs!
The children began creating traditional Egyptian collars from card. They used art straws and pasta pieces to make their collars 3D. After designing them and gluing all of the little pieces down, the children later painted them. Here are some photos of what we created.
We created headbands and designed death masks as well as coloured maps f Egypt if we had time.
The children looked amazing on Egyptian day and we had lots of positive comments from staff, pupils and our parents. They had a super time and clearly enjoyed their special day.
We would once again, like to say a big thank you to all of our year three parents/carers for all of the support you have given us throughout the year. We hope you enjoy looking at the photos of our themed day.
Look out for our next blog – Conkers!
During our DT topic we have been looking at the effects that heat has on bread.
In small groups we cooked some white bread. We described the white bread before each piece was toasted and predicted the changes that would happen.
After we observed the bread we spread yummy butter on and shared the delicious, hot toast in our small groups.
Mrs O’Connor thinks there is far too much eating going on in our classroom this half term, it’s a good job its a healthy eating topic! We are having so much fun tasting all of the wonderful things which can be used to make healthy, tasty sandwiches. Mrs O’Connor’s personal favourite was the spread tasting, we pulled lots of unusual faces for the camera, she found our reactions very amusing. 🙂
We hope you enjoy the pictures of our toast tasting. We have also included some photographs from our other tasting sessions. Both classes have really enjoyed DT this term.
Enjoy!
The year 3 team.
As part of our Design and Technology we are tasting different types of breads, spreads and salads in preparation of making our own sandwiches!
Here are some pictures of us trying the different types of foods! I wonder if you can guess the children who really liked the tastes and the children who didn’t!
In year three we have been learning lots about different kinds of rocks, their properties and how they are formed (our trip to the Wyre Forest is really going to help us too!).
To discover how rocks were formed and to make sure we could remember them we used chocolate! We had lots of fun melting, squashing and stacking chocolate to make our igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rock (it tasted really good too!).
We had a great lesson and wanted to share the pictures with everyone.
We would like to say well done to year three today for a wonderful dress rehearsal of our yearly production. Thank you to all of the staff involved in making the props and creating the dances, thank you to Mr shepherd for writing the musical and supplying us with the music for it too.
The children have worked so hard to ensure that this was a success and we cannot wait to perform it to our parents at the concert on Thursday.
Thanks again.
The year 3 team.

Hello to all!
We just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your support for our themed week and especially our dress up day. The children looked amazing, we have some lovely photos of the two classes and some of the work they produced this week. We will add them asap.
We finished our themed week with a visit to the theatre which was enjoyed by all. The children interacted so well with the performers and we all had a wonderful time.
Thank you again for helping to make all of this possible, we couldn’t do it without you!
The year 3 team.
